Stephen Ministers are laypersons who provide confidential Christian care to those who seek prayerful, emotional support to deal with stress, grief, life transitions, health issues or other concerns. Stephen Ministers meet one-on-one with care receivers of the same sex, about once a week. They offer empathetic listening, unconditional positive regard, and other resources and referrals as needed. Saint Andrews' Stephen Ministry is part of a worldwide care giving network.
How are Stephen Ministers connected to those in need?
If you, or someone you know, would benefit from a Stephen Minster, please see or contact Pastor Vann Spivey at the Church office, 919-772-4410 or Karen Keene at 219-628-0894 for more information or to request a confidential assessment for referral of a Stephen Minister.
How could I become a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers commit to 50 hours of initial training. After that, ministers take part in ongoing supervision and education twice a month during a two-year ministry commitment. To learn more about this ministry you can email Karen Keene or phone 219-628-0894.
