International Missions
El Salvador: A collaboration with Apex UMC to build homes and provide other assistance to families in improvised areas around Ahuachapn, El Salvador. More information.
Heifer International gives gifts of cattle, sheep, rabbits, honeybees, pigs, llamas, water buffalo, heifers, chicks, ducks, goats, geese, other regionally appropriate livestock, as well as tree seedlings. As of 2010, these animals and plants have been distributed in more than 125 countries around the globe. Each gift furthers Heifer's interest in agroecology, sustainability and the environment. Heifer International works to ensure that the gift of each animal will eventually help an entire community to become self-sustaining. Animals such as goats, water buffalo and camels are "seven M" animals: they provide meat, milk, muscle, manure, money, materials and motivation.
Saint Andrews has raised funds for a complete "Ark" of animals and the Vacation Bible School raised funds for a "Milk Menagerie".
Operation Christmas Child: Each November (although we do “box seeding” early in the year) we have a Christmas party and fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, personal items, and other gifts. These boxes are then distributed as Christmas gifts, accompanied by Christian literature, to children worldwide.
Talac, Philippines: Led by a member of our congregation, SAUMC supports a church in the Philippines that feeds and teaches children. More information.
Stop Hunger Now: Volunteers underwrite and package dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals that are used in crisis situations and feeding programs for schools and orphanages in developing countries around the world. This mission is based in Raleigh.
Zoe Ministries: Financial support for missionaries working in Africa.
